The early abuse destroyed her trust, her confidence and her childhood. In 2005, as a young woman in her 30’s, she began mountain climbing and caught a glimpse of a new kind of freedom. While climbing Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina in Dec, 2013 Silvia had a revelation – if climbing could heal her, it could help heal others. And Courageous Girls was born.
We successfully guided our first group of Nepali survivors to base camp Everest in November of 2015. Now we are training with our second group – this time survivors from the United States who are part of the Young Women’s Freedom Center. We’ll be physically preparing them for the rigors of the climb as well as providing them with iRest Trauma healing and Mindfulness meditation.
