Asar ya Sinya Jya: A Newari folk tune about monsoon and the rice plantation in the valley.
Kiran Nepali of Project Sarangi is back again with yet another music video of “Asar ya Sinya Jaa”. It is Newari folk tune about monsoon and the rice plantation in the valley. The farmers in Nepal depend entirely on rainfall for farming. The song describes the joy of planting rice and the social aspect of coming together to help one another in the
community.
It also depicts the excitement for the arrival of the monsoon. The tune describes the comradery during plantation period; starting from the preparation for the day to sharing moments working together in the field.
The video was shot in the fields of KHOKHANA and we we were delighted by the cooperation and hospitality of the framers during the making.
Kiran Nepali, the man behind “Project Sarangi” is a well known Sarangi Player himself. He is from Gandarva family who has been playing Sarangi for generations.
