Former guide from Bhaktapur woos the judges and audience on Chinese National TV | Interview with Sandesh Singh Deuja


It is not uncommon to hear Nepalese sing Hindi or English songs, but it is when you hear a Nepalese sing in fluent Chinese. Sandesh Singh Deuja is that Nepalese who recently sang in Chinese and wooed the judges and the audience with his brilliant performance on a Chinese National TV. He performed “yi jian mei” by popular Chinese singer Fei Yu Ging. 26 year old Sandesh have been studying Chinese at Shanghai International Studies University in Shanghai.

He was a tourist guide in Nepal before he came to China in 2015. He had only 3 months of training in Chinese at that time. His career as a tourist guide was affected by the massive earthquake in 2015. It was after the quake that he got an scholarship to attend the University in Shanghai.

He was also selected to be a part of an official promotional video of “Shanghai International Studies University.”
